Registration for the renowned Lancaster Classic is open, and the tournament is scheduled for January 23-26, 2020. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming competition.

The 2020 Lancaster Classic is the East Coast’s largest indoor archery tournament, scheduled for January 23-26,2020 at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, PA. This year’s Classic is expected to be bigger than last year’s record-setting tournament, which drew in over 1,700 archers.

This year is going to have new features to enhance the tournament. Archers will compete for over $300,000 in cash and prizes. $160,000 will be handed out as cash payment and contingencies and over $20,000 are saved for door prizes. The top prize will be a $20,000 cash prize to the Open Pro division champion.

The prize money has significantly increased for the recurve divisions with $51,450 that will be awarded. It will be the largest recurve payout for an indoor archery tournament.  This is largely due to the creation of Women’s Barebow Recurve division. $2000 will be paid for first place, $1000 for second, $500 for third and $250 for fourth. The Men’s Recurve and Barebow divisions will take home $8000 each, which is up $6000 from last year. The Women’s Recurve winner will take home $4000, up from $3000 from last year.

Also new for the 2020 Lancaster Classic, there will be “Missed-Cut Payout Flights.” All of these awards will be paid in Lancaster Archery Supply gift cards and will be based on scores and rankings at the end of the qualification rounds. This is awarded to archers that score below cutoffs for their respective divisions and placed in flights for Missed-Cut awards. The top three archers in each division will receive gift cards.

This year will also marks the first year that no division will cut less than 16. In the past there were some divisions that only sent 8 archers to elimination rounds, but this year division cuts will be 16, 32 or 64 archers.

The past two years, the Lancaster Classic has offered a special one-day competition for youth archers under 21 for the opportunity to experience a world-class tournament for a fraction of the cost and time-commitment. This year, it is being expanded to collegiate archers as well. The Easton Youth and Collegiate Trophy Tournament will feature Cub (13 & 14 yrs), Cadet (15-17 yrs), Junior (18-20 yrs) and Collegiate (college students) divisions.

The 2020 Lancaster Classic is also adding another line in addition to the three Friday lines. Archers can now choose to shoot in a 4 p.m. line on Thursday, January 23rd. This addition will allow the Classic to accommodate an extra 1,930 archers, plus 540 for the Easton Youth and Collegiate Trophy Tournament. Due to the additional archers, there will be 136 practice lanes.
