The annual Spring PA 3D Challenge at Camp Mack has become a staple for archers looking to kick off the season with a high-energy, competitive shoot. Set for April 18–19, 2026, this long-running event continues to draw strong participation from bowhunters and target shooters alike, offering a challenging course and a true-to-form 3D archery experience.

Hosted by local clubs and built around realistic hunting scenarios, the event features an extensive course of 3D animal targets spread across multiple ranges. Shooters can expect varied terrain, changing shot angles, and unknown distances—key elements that define 3D archery and make it such a valuable off-season and pre-season tool for bowhunters.

What sets this event apart in 2026 is the added backing from BIGshot Targets, which is helping elevate both the scale and appeal of the shoot. With over $10,000 in prizes being given away, the Spring PA 3D Challenge offers serious incentive alongside its already strong reputation. Prize support at this level not only attracts experienced shooters, but also helps grow participation across all skill levels.

The event also aligns with the style and structure familiar to shooters involved in ASA Archery competition. Known for its emphasis on realistic scoring zones and competitive formats, ASA-style shooting continues to influence local and regional 3D events like this one, making it a great opportunity for archers to sharpen skills in a similar environment.

Beyond the competition, the Spring PA 3D Challenge maintains a strong community element. Events like this bring together clubs, brands, and shooters in a setting that blends competition with camaraderie. It’s not just about scores—it’s about preparing for the season, testing gear, and connecting with others in the sport.

For archers looking to get reps in before the season heats up, Camp Mack delivers a well-rounded event with the added bonus of major prize support and industry backing.

April 15, 2026 – With the 2026 launch of NASP® 3D, the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is proud to announce a new national title—the NASP® Grand Champion Award. This premier title will recognize one male and one female archer who demonstrate the highest level of excellence across the full NASP® experience. Grand Champions will be determined by a combined total of four scores: Bullseye and NASP® 3D results from a national tournament (Eastern or Western Nationals), plus Bullseye and NASP® 3D scores from the NASP® Championship. In the event of a tie from these four scores, a tie breaker will occur just prior to awards at the NASP® Championship Tournament.

The Grand Champion Award will be presented during the final award ceremony at the NASP® Championship.

NASP® Western National Tournament, Sandy, UT 4/23-2026-4/25-2026

NASP® Eastern National Tournament, Louisville, KY 5/7/2026-5/9/2026

	NASP® Championship, Daytona, FL, 6/18/2026-6/20/2026

Unlike traditional awards given within divisions, the Grand Champion title will be awarded across all divisions, meaning only one male and one female archer will earn this honor—regardless of grade level.

For years, NASP® has remained committed to its mission and structure. In the early days of expansion beyond Kentucky, program leadership made a deliberate decision to stay focused on its foundation—bullseye archery. As interest grew and opportunities expanded, that discipline remained the anchor that ensured quality, safety, and scalability nationwide.

NASP® President Tommy Floyd said, “Now, for the first time, we can recognize what it truly means to be the best across our entire program. The Grand Champion isn’t decided in a single moment—it requires repeated excellence, across four scores, on the biggest stages we offer. This isn’t about one great day – it’s about proving you can perform at the highest level again and again.”

With the full implementation of NASP® 3D, the Grand Champion Award becomes the first national title to fully reflect that unity.

“The Grand Champion award represents the very best of NASP®,” Floyd added. “It recognizes the two students—one male and one female—who achieve greatness across both disciplines. That’s something truly special.”

In addition to receiving a one-of-a-kind trophy, Grand Champions will be permanently recognized with their names added to a commemorative display at the Archery Hall of Fame and Museum in Springfield Missouri, and the names of both archers will appear there in the perpetual plaque for all AHOF visitors to see!

From this point forward, this criterion will be used to determine each year’s Grand Champion archers.

Field Converges on X27 at 60th Anniversary of the Vegas Shoot

The 60th anniversary of the Vegas Shoot showcased not only record-setting performances, but a clear trend at the highest level of indoor competition: widespread adoption of a single arrow platform among the world’s top compound archers.

Across the Championship Compound divisions, a significant majority of the field—including nearly all finalists—competed with Easton X27 arrow shafts. That level of adoption reflects the demands of the format, where outcomes are decided in millimeters and equipment consistency becomes critical, and that level of performance was on full display throughout the event.

The Netherlands’ Mike Schloesser secured his third Vegas Shoot title following a pressure-filled shootdown, while Great Britain’s Ella Gibson claimed her first championship in a rare five-way shoot-off. In qualification, U.S. archer Bodie Turner delivered a historic 900-90X performance—highlighting the level of precision now required simply to reach the final stages.

In recurve competition, Brady Ellison earned his record 12th Vegas Shoot title, while Casey Kaufhold defended her championship to secure her third overall win.

As scoring tightens and fields deepen, equipment selection has become increasingly uniform at the top levels of the sport—particularly in indoor compound, where elite archers continue to prioritize setups that minimize variables under pressure.

The trend is hard to ignore, when nearly the entire final field shows up with the same platform, it says something about what top archers are looking for right now—repeatability and confidence shot to shot.

The 2026 Vegas Shoot once again demonstrated the evolution of competitive archery, where margins are razor-thin, and performance is defined by execution as much as equipment.

PUEBLA, Mexico – If the opening stage of the Hyundai Archery World Cup is anything to go by, then the USA is on course for another strong showing in 2026, after claiming five medals in Mexico. Only China won more.

Brady Ellison qualified for his 15th World Cup Final with victory in recurve men. His path to the gold medal match began with two 6-0 wins, before he overcame teammate Christian Stoddard in the quarterfinals. Stoddard took sixth overall.

Two maximums from Ellison helped him to a 6-4 win over local favorite Mathias Grande (MEX) in the semifinal, setting up a finale with Chih-Chun Tang (TPE). Scores were not what they been previously, but with Tang requiring a 10 with his final arrow to force a shootoff, the archer from Chinese Taipei landed an eight to hand victory to Ellison.

“I needed 10 to win. It fired, and I knew it was a 10 in my head and it just missed, so I was like ‘come on’,” Ellison told archery+.

“So, I then 100 per cent expected it to be a shootoff. That’s what I was getting ready for, and then when I heard eight, I was like ‘oh’.

“Sometimes the matches go like that. You like to win them on your last arrow but coming away with the win, making the (World Cup) Final with the first stage of the year, I’m super excited.”

That gold in recurve men followed recurve men’s team gold, alongside Stoddard and Jack Williams, earlier on Sunday. The USA trio defeated Turkey but this time a shootoff was required, with Ellison landing the deciding arrow. Both teams scored 29 but Ellison was the only one to hit the X.

Ellison’s haul was completed with silver in recurve mixed team. He and Casey Kaufhold, the third seeds, defeated second seeded Turkey in the semifinals but came up short against top seeds China.

Catalina GNoriega was the best-placed USA archer in recurve women, taking joint seventh. Her path to the quarterfinals included a shootoff win over Kaufhold, who had defeated teammate Jennifer Mucino-Fernandez in the previous round.

Compound women won the first medal in Mexico for the USA. The team of Olivia Dean, Paige Pearce and Alexis Ruiz finished with silver, losing 233-232 to India in the deciding match.

Ruiz was the highest ranked archer from the USA in (individual) compound women, finishing joint seventh. Stephan Hansen, on his USA debut, took fourth in compound men.

Ruiz and Hansen combined for bronze in compound mixed team. They overcame India 155-154 to secure their place on the podium.

The USA’s top archers in recurve and compound next head to Newberry in Florida for the first event in the USAT Qualifier Series, with the Easton Foundations Gator Cup starting with team rounds on Thursday and individual competition from Friday.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Brady Ellison stormed to a third consecutive Indoor World Series title, capping his run with a 12th Vegas Shoot victory as the 2026 Indoor Archery World Series reached a dramatic conclusion over the weekend.

Ellison’s recurve triumph came after three days of competition at the Vegas Shoot, where he edged victory by a single point with 886. Marcus D’Almeida and Santiago Arcila both finished on 885, with the Brazilian securing second after a shootoff.

The win in Vegas catapulted Ellison to the top of the final Indoor World Series standings, allowing him to successfully defend his title and make it three in a row. He leapt five places in the rankings, finishing ahead of D’Almeida and Andres Temino Mediel, who did not compete at the Vegas Shoot.

For Casey Kaufhold, victory in Vegas marked a third win at the prestigious event. Her score of 884 secured gold in the recurve women’s division by four points over teammate Catalina GNoriega. The result lifted Kaufhold from ninth to third in the final Indoor World Series rankings, while GNoriega climbed 18 places to fifth overall.

“This one felt different for me in so many ways,” Kaufhold wrote on social media. “I’ve been shooting a higher arrow volume and training harder than I ever have.

“It is so fulfilling to walk away with a win and the highest score I’ve ever shot in Vegas. However, I’m still reaching for that coveted 300. There is always next year, but for now … IT’S OUTDOOR SEASON BABY!”

In the compound women’s division, five athletes posted perfect 900 qualification scores, including Americans Alexis Ruiz, Julia Rives and Taylor Miller. A shootdown decided the medals, with Ruiz taking silver and Rives bronze. Ruiz ultimately finished fifth overall in the Indoor World Series standings.

The compound men’s event saw 32 archers shoot 900, including Bodie Turner, who made history by scoring Xs with all 90 arrows – the first to achieve the feat at the Vegas Shoot. Turner claimed bronze behind Matthew Burns and champion Mike Schloesser.

A fifth-place finish in Vegas for Stephan Hansen saw him overtaken by Schloesser and into the silver medal position in the final Indoor World Series ranking.

PANGBURN — Nearly 700 students, ranging from 4th to 12th grade, will take to their stand and draw their bows April 10-11 in an attempt to bring home an archery state title at the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Archery in the Schools 3D State Championship hosted by Pangburn High School.

Unlike the AIS Bull’s-eye Championship that concluded last month with a dominating performance by Magnet Cove High School, this competition allows students to aim at multiple targets of differing sizes positioned 10 to 15 meters away.

“A lot of these students shot with us at the AIS bull’s-eye competitions and state championship last month,” Aimee Swaim, AGFC Archery in the Schools Coordinator, said. “They’re shooting the same bows as before, just at different styles of targets and with a different format. The idea is to add another step toward the transition from just learning to shoot a bow to becoming a hunter.”

Swaim said one of the largest barriers youth have toward hunting and outdoor recreation is that many are raised without mentors familiar with teaching archery, firearms or other basic outdoors skills. The AGFC’s AIS Program is one of many programs offering gradual stepping stones from complete novice to accomplished outdoorsperson.

“They’ll be shooting at North American game animals,” Swaim said. “There’s a target shaped like a wild turkey, a coyote, a deer, a bear, a pronghorn and a stone sheep. All but the pronghorn and stone sheep are animals hunters can pursue right here in Arkansas. This format really helps us align the archery program closer to our effort of recruiting new outdoorspeople.”

The addition of 3D animal targets to Arkansas’s program began in 2024 at the request of a few coaches and students.

“Pangburn’s coach approached us and said the extra discipline was held during the Bull’s-eye national competitions, but you had to have qualified through a state tournament to participate,” Swaim said. “So we worked to include it here so those students who were headed to those big tournaments would be able to compete in more than one event. It sort of took off from there.”

Swaim says 41 school systems have already signed up, and many have listed multiple teams. Each team consists of six archers, and each team must have at least two boys and two girls.

“We’re seeing a lot of excitement about this new discipline since we started offering it,” Swaim said. “Pangburn has held the event for the last two years, and it’s grown from 256 archers in the first year to right at 700 this year. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s as big as the bull’s-eye competition one day.”

February 12, 2026 – The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is proud to announce the winning student designs for its annual T-Shirt and Trading Pin Design Contest. NASP® invites student archers to showcase their artistic talents by creating original artwork to be featured on official tournament apparel and merchandise. For 2026, students were challenged with the theme “NASP® in the Outdoors.”

Drawings, paintings, and digital graphics were submitted online, reflecting the creativity and passion of NASP® students nationwide. For the first time, approved submissions were also made viewable to the public here: https://woobox.com/e47vjv.

The selected artwork will be featured on official shirts worn at NASP® State, National, and Championship Bullseye events, as well as by volunteers supporting NASP® tournaments. This year’s winning trading pin design will be available in a limited quantity for trading only at the national events – while supplies last.

A panel of judges carefully reviewed the entries and selected the following winners:

State T-Shirt Design Winner: Enan Leavitt, NV Clark Eagles Homeschool, Nevada

National Bullseye T-Shirt Design Winner: Bentley Miller, Nodaway Valley Middle School, Iowa

Championship Bullseye T-Shirt Design Winner: Alia Hamm, Saltillo High School, Mississippi

Volunteer T-Shirt Design Winner: Lauren Chuck, Emerald High School, California

Official Trading Pin Design Winner: Emily Harms, Eldon High School, Missouri

NASP® Program Manager Stephanie Evans, who facilitated the design contest, praised the students’ efforts, “Our annual design contest is one of the most fun ways we get to highlight student creativity. For the past four years, we have been amazed by how our archers interpret NASP® through art. There are so many talented NASP® archers across every grade level, and the 2026 theme of ‘NASP® in the Outdoors’ inspired some incredible and creative designs that celebrate the connection between archery, nature, and student imagination”

The winning students will each receive recognition on the NASP® website and social media channels, and their designs will be seen by thousands of archers, families, and volunteers throughout the tournament season. These winners also received a Genesis bow in the color of their choice!

NASP® extends its thanks to every student who submitted artwork this year and encourages all archers to continue sharing their talents both on and off the range. The National Design Contest will open again September, 2026 – November, 2026

The National Archery in the Schools Program promotes international-style target archery as part of in-school curriculum, to improve educational performance and participation in the shooting sports among students in grades 4-12.
