MEDELLIN, Colombia – It was a case of quality providing quantity as the United States topped the medal table at the 2026 Pan American Youth and Masters Championships, with a haul of 11 gold, nine silver and 11 bronze, while also setting new standards along the way.

Mark Williams and Janis Grellner set a new world record in recurve 50+ mixed team, shooting 1239, before marching on to win gold. Williams finished with three gold medals, taking top spot in individual recurve 50+ men and then winning recurve 50+ men team alongside Ali Gungoraydinoglu and Mark Hainline.

“Medellin has been fantastic,” Williams commented. “They’ve put on an amazing tournament. Team USA has been very successful. It has been an honor to represent the USA. What a privilege to be here. Thank you USA Archery for organizing this for our team.”

Grellner also won individual bronze in recurve 50+ women, with teammate Jamie McCarrison taking the gold. Grellner added, “All competitors shot well and the host country did a wonderful job! I’m grateful for the achievement of the recurve 50+ mixed team world record. I’m honored to represent our country and to earn the world record!”

Gungoraydinoglu, Hainline and Williams set a new Games and Continental record in recurve 50+ men team with a combined total of 1897.

Paige Lee was another multi-medalist, winning gold in recurve U15 women and silver in recurve U15 mixed team with Anirduhkalyan Pinjala. Paige’s score of 688 during qualification is another Games and Continental record, as is her combined score of 1352 with Pinjala.

Paige said, “I love being able to wear the USA jersey and represent my country doing what I love. It has been such an amazing experience meeting athletes from other countries and competing against them. I’m so grateful for this opportunity!”

Others returning home with more than one medal include Eliana Son (bronze, recurve U21 women; silver, recurve U21 mixed team), Jack Chen (gold, recurve U18 men team; bronze, recurve U18 mixed team), Madelyn Yi (gold, recurve U18 women; silver, recurve U18 women team), Yeshaswini Tati (silver, recurve U18 women team; bronze, recurve U18 women) and Zoie Thompson (silver, compound U21 women; bronze, compound U21 women team).

The USA claimed 12 of the 14 medals up for grabs in the barebow division, including a silver for Nathan Lee in U15 men and women. His score in qualification was 621, yet another Games and Continental best for the outstanding USA.

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is proud to recognize the generosity and servant leadership demonstrated by NASP® schools, coaches, and student archers during the 2025–2026 NASP® St. Jude E-Championship Charity Tournament Series. Together, participating schools voluntarily raised $35,152.09 in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Hosted through NASPtournaments.org, the monthly virtual tournaments provide schools an opportunity to compete in the familiar NASP® format while also supporting children and families facing life-threatening illnesses. Participation in the fundraiser portion is entirely optional, making the effort especially meaningful for the schools and coaches who choose to participate.

NASP® would like to recognize the fundraising schools of the season that raised $500 or more and inspired a culture of service among their archers, encouraging students to continue shooting arrows in support of others.

“Our gratitude to the NASP® BAIs across the country who continue to make the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital fundraisers a priority,” said Tommy Floyd. “These wonderful NASP® instructors are teaching so much more than just archery. Their student-archers are learning the value of ‘doing’ for others and no doubt, feel the pride that comes with supporting such a worthwhile cause as SJCRH.”

He continued, “Thank you NASP® coaches, teams, and individuals that have made this worthwhile fundraising effort an annual success. This is a great example of what NASP® continues to emphasize across its 10,000 schools; NASP® is changing lives, one arrow at a time!”

One participating program, Prosper High School, shared how the fundraiser reflects the culture of their archery community. Jennifer, a Prosper coach, said, “Supporting St. Jude teaches our archers something bigger than competition: the power of giving back,” she shared. “It reminds them that their efforts can make a real difference in the lives of children and families who are fighting unimaginable battles.”

Centennial High School archery coach Heather Miller stated, “The fight against childhood cancer hits close to home, as one of our current senior archers was cured of cancer by St. Jude Children’s Hospital as a young boy and remains in remission. For the past four seasons the Centennial Charger Archery Team stepped up for this important cause by hosting a special St. Jude internal tournament for archers and their families and implementing other fundraising efforts.” Each year, Centennial continues to beat previous record donations. Their archers and families are one amazing example of how NASP® students are making a difference in their lives and others.

While NASP® is built around the safe instruction of archery and the 11 Steps to Archery Success, efforts like the St. Jude E-Championship continue to demonstrate that NASP® programs are also developing leadership, compassion, teamwork, and service-minded students in schools across the country.

Leading the charge was Team Shooter Levi Morgan, who claimed first place in the Men’s division using his ARC 34. Following closely behind, teammates Brady Myers secured second place while Dan McCarthy took third, making it a clean sweep for Team Mathews in the Men’s division.

May 11, 2026 – The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) successfully concluded the 2026 Eastern National Tournament this weekend at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky, once again bringing together thousands of student archers, educators, families, and supporters from across the country for the largest archery tournament in the world.

Over the course of three days, the event welcomed thousands of participants and spectators while showcasing the continued growth and impact of in-school archery programs nationwide.

Final participation numbers included:

Bullseye Tournament: 14,303 student archers representing 998 schools and 32 states

NASP® 3D Tournament: 8,310 student archers representing 709 schools and 30 states

Total Unique Participants: 16,082 students from 1,132 schools from around the US

From the moment doors opened each morning, the energy inside the Kentucky Exposition Center reflected the excitement surrounding the event. Teams filled the halls wearing school colors, trading pins, cheering on teammates, reconnecting with friends from around the country, and experiencing the unique atmosphere that has made Eastern Nationals a destination event for NASP® archers and families.

For many students, competing in Kentucky represents a major milestone in their archery journey. Months of practice and preparation led to the opportunity to step onto one of the biggest stages in youth archery, creating an atmosphere filled with anticipation, sportsmanship, and celebration throughout the weekend.

The 2026 event also reflected the continued expansion of NASP® 3D participation, with more schools and students than ever before choosing to compete in both Bullseye and 3D disciplines as part of the full NASP® experience.

“Every year the energy at Eastern Nationals is incredible, but this year felt especially exciting,” said Jeff Rawlinson. “Students work all year for the opportunity to compete here in Kentucky. You can see the excitement the moment teams walk through the doors. It’s more than a tournament — it’s a celebration of the hard work, friendships, and experiences that come through NASP®.”

“The growth of NASP® 3D has been exciting to watch,” added Jeff Rawlinson. “More students are looking for ways to continue their archery journey beyond the traditional target range. Events like Eastern Nationals help expose students and families to new outdoor activities and opportunities they may not have experienced before.”

In addition to competition, this year’s event introduced several hands-on outdoor experience activities for students and families to explore between shooting lines. Archers had the opportunity to try bowfishing, climb a portable rock wall, and experience a virtual reality archery simulator featuring moving targets and interactive gameplay. These additions helped connect students to broader outdoor recreation opportunities while adding even more excitement to the tournament experience.

“Events like this remind us that NASP® is about so much more than scores on a target,” said NASP® President Tommy Floyd. “Thousands of families traveled from across the country to be here, spending time together, supporting their students, and creating memories that will last far beyond the tournament. The excitement throughout the venue was incredible all week long. You could see the pride from parents in the stands, teammates cheering each other on, and students excited to experience everything the event had to offer — including the growing enthusiasm surrounding NASP® 3D. That kind of energy and family support is what makes the NASP® community so special.”

Attention now turns toward the 2026 NASP® Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida, where the season will conclude with the introduction of several new premier championship opportunities. This includes the inaugural NASP® Grand Champion Award, which will recognize one overall male and one overall female archer based on combined Bullseye and NASP® 3D scores from both national tournaments.

Student archers who participated in the 2026 NASP® Eastern National Tournament are encouraged to review qualification information for the upcoming NASP® Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida this June. Qualification status can be checked through the official “Do I Qualify for the Championship?” PDF available on the NASP® website.

Do I Qualify for the Championship? PDF

In addition, the top five overall male and top five overall female archers in both Bullseye and NASP® 3D — determined by combined Eastern and Western National scores — will qualify for the Scholarship Shoot-Off held during the NASP® Championship in Daytona Beach.

The 2026 NASP® Championship will take place June 18–20 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida and will bring together qualifying archers from across the country to compete in Bullseye and NASP® 3D on the national stage.

NASP® would also like to recognize and thank the incredible team of volunteers who helped make the event possible. From admissions staff and range officials to setup crews, scoring teams, and teardown volunteers, hundreds of individuals worked behind the scenes throughout the week to create a safe, organized, and memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.

The organization also extends its appreciation to the many partners, sponsors, exhibitors, and conservation organizations that continue to support NASP® students and schools throughout the year. Their involvement helps create opportunities for young people to experience archery, outdoor recreation, and conservation education on a national stage.

SHANGHAI, China – Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage #2 produced four medals for the United States, with Alexis Ruiz involved in three of the medal-winning matches.

The 26-year-old from Arizona helped the U.S. to compound mixed team gold alongside James Lutz, with a 157-154 win over Turkey. It was the first time the duo had won gold as a pair, with victories over Spain, India and Estonia on their way to the top of the podium.

Turkey had earlier defeated the USA in the compound men and compound women team gold medal matches, with Lutz commenting, “It feels great. I’m just lucky I’ve got Alexis as a partner. She really carried me today, for sure.”

For Ruiz, it was gold at the end of a week which delivered bronze in the individual compound women’s competition, as well as silver in compound women team event, with Olivia Dean and Kaylee Gurney as teammates.

Ruiz was the number one seed after shooting 707 in qualification and carried that form into eliminations, enjoying a maximum 150 in her quarterfinal win over Yeonseo Kang (KOR). She was denied a shot at gold, despite a 149 in the semifinals, losing to eventual gold medalist Lisell Jaatma (EST) after a shootoff. Bronze was delivered after a 148-145 triumph over Dafne Quintero (MEX).

The USA led by two points heading into the fourth and final end against Turkey in the compound women team gold medal match, only to lose by a single point 233-232.

Lutz returned home with two medals. As well as his compound mixed team gold, he also took silver in compound men team, with Gaius Carter and Louis Price. They were denied gold by Turkey, 234-231 with the final end again being decisive.

The recurve men of Trenton Cowles, Brady Ellison and Jack Williams just missed out on a medal in the team competition, edged 5-3 by Vietnam in the battle for bronze.

Ellison had previously secured his spot in the season-ending World Cup Final with gold at World Cup Stage #1 last month in Mexico.

The 2026 Hyundai Archery World Cup moves to Turkey next month with Stage #3 in Antalya. Stage #4 will be in Madrid, Spain in July. The World Cup Final takes place in Saltillo, Mexico in September.

Before all of that, the USA archers resume domestic duties with the second stage of the USAT Qualifier Series, which is the Easton Foundations Salt Lake Summit from May 22-24. That will mark the first of two editions of the Salt Lake Summit, with youth and para youth competing a week later (May 29-31). Registration remains open for the youth event until May 15, though a waitlist is in effect for certain categories.

May 11, 2026 — The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is proud to recognize the outstanding student archers selected to the 2026 NASP® Academic All-American Teams.

The Academic All-American Teams honor student archers who demonstrate excellence both in the classroom and on the archery range. To qualify, students must first be recognized as Academic Archers through their school’s local academic criteria and then earn top placement scores at either the 2026 NASP® Western National Tournament or Eastern National Tournament.

“This recognition represents exactly what NASP® was designed to encourage,” said NASP® President Tommy Floyd. “These students are proving that success in the classroom and success on the range can go hand in hand. The Academic All-American Teams highlight young people who are setting an example through discipline, dedication, sportsmanship, and academic achievement.”

For 2026, NASP® recognized six Academic All-American Teams of 24 students each:

Elementary Bullseye

Middle School Bullseye

High School Bullseye

Elementary NASP® 3D

Middle School NASP® 3D

High School NASP® 3D

NASP® continues to see strong growth in student participation and academic engagement through archery programs taught during the school day. Educators across the country regularly report that NASP® helps students build confidence, improve school involvement, and stay motivated academically.

The Academic All-American Teams reflect NASP®’s long-standing commitment to recognizing students for more than tournament scores alone. By combining academic achievement with archery performance, the program celebrates well-rounded student success and reinforces the positive impact school archery programs can have on young people.

NASP® congratulates all students selected to the 2026 Academic All-American Teams and thanks the educators, coaches, parents, and volunteers who continue to support student success both on and off the range.

May 11, 2026 — The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) is proud to recognize the recipients of the 2026 “On Target for Life” Awards, honoring individuals whose impact reaches far beyond scores and competition lanes.

While NASP® tournaments celebrate achievement in archery, the “On Target for Life” Awards were created to recognize something even greater — the people who use archery to build confidence, create opportunities, strengthen communities, and positively influence the lives of many.

“These awards represent the heart of NASP®,” said Jeff Rawlinson. “Every day we see coaches, students, volunteers, and alumni changing lives through archery. The range may be where the arrows fly, but the real impact happens in classrooms, homes, schools, and communities long after the tournament ends.”

The 2026 recipients were selected from nominations submitted by coordinators, coaches, educators, parents, and fellow archers from across the country. Each story reflected the values that continue to define NASP® — perseverance, leadership, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Besides the recognition and the plaque presented at a NASP® tournament, each recipient receives: Adult award – a $500 equipment grant; Student award – a $500 Scholarship.

Coach of the Year Award

Recognizing attributes of the coach beyond just their ability to teach the fundamentals of archery and have a proven history of making an overwhelming positive difference in the lives of participating NASP® students.

Winner: John Ponzar, Missouri

Superhero Award

An unpaid volunteer that makes an outstanding positive impact on their NASP® class or team.

Winner: Kim Legg, Pennsylvania

Bullseye Award

A NASP® student that has made notable positive strides in academic performance and behavior through their involvement with the program.

Winner: Ruby Sowell, Virginia

Courage Award

A NASP® student that has overcome a major life event or disability yet continues to inspire others through their participation in NASP®.

Winner: Zachary Legg, Pennsylvania

Community Service Award

A NASP® team that makes a substantial positive impact on its community.

Winner: Heartwood Christian Academy, Alabama

Outstanding Alumni Award

A former NASP® graduate that experienced the positives of NASP® and now continues to give back to their former school or team. They provide obvious service, support, and a positive role model for current NASP® students to emulate.

Winner: Samara Honshiko, Washington

Throughout the nomination process, one theme appeared again and again — NASP® is about far more than competition. Stories submitted described students discovering confidence for the first time, educators creating safe and welcoming spaces, families reconnecting outdoors, and communities rallying around young people through archery.

For many participants, the lessons learned through NASP® continue long after students leave the range.

“Archery teaches patience, focus, responsibility, and resilience,” said Tommy Floyd, NASP® President. “Those are life skills that help students succeed wherever life takes them. The individuals recognized through these awards truly embody what it means to be ‘On Target for Life.’”

The Nano Pro RZ and Nano Pro X-Treme arrows will be available worldwide later this month.

“Jimmy continues to prove why he is one of the best compound archers in the world,” said Erik Bramble, Tournament & Pro-Staff Manager for Carbon Express. “To see him competing for gold medals on the international stage while trusting Carbon Express Nano Pro RZ arrows and his TruFire Rivet release says a lot about both his confidence and the performance of the equipment.
