<div style="padding-left: 30px;">More than 1,175 archers from 45 schools throughout Louisiana will compete in two regional events to advance to the state tournament.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">The ALAS South Regional will be held Jan. 30 at the LSU Ag Center&#8217;s state evacuation shelter on the LSU Alexandria campus. This tournament will be host to more than 600 archers from 23 schools. The ALAS North Regional will be held on Feb. 6 at the Shreveport Convention Center. This regional will be host to 575 archers from 22 schools.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">Students at both regionals will compete for the opportunity to win individual and team awards as well as qualify for the 2016 ALAS State Tournament.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">The 2016 ALAS State Tournament will be held March 4-5 at the LSU Ag Center&#8217;s state evacuation shelter on the LSU Alexandria campus. Registration for the ALAS State Tournament will begin following the completion of both ALAS Regional Tournaments. Only schools and students who competed and qualified at the ALAS regional tournaments will be eligible to compete at the state tournament.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">Archers at the state tournament will compete for awards and prizes, including more than $10,000 in scholarship money thanks to our sponsors. This will also be their opportunity to qualify for the 2016 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) National Tournament to be held in Louisville, Ky., in May.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">All ALAS tournaments are open to the public. The ticket price is $3 for anyone over the age of 18. Registration for the ALAS competitions is limited to Louisiana schools who participate in the ALAS program.</div>

<div style="padding-left: 30px;">Sponsors of the 2016 ALAS program include Central Louisiana Quality Deer Management Association, Louisiana Archery and Sports Center, Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, Man Cave Archery, Louisiana Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, Louisiana National Guard, NASP®, H&amp;E Equipment, Y-Not Stop, Hoot &amp; Holler Archery, Acadiana Chapter-Safari Club International, LSU Ag Center, Homeland Safety Systems, Alexandria/Pineville Visitors and Convention Bureau, Rapides Parish Sheriff&#8217;s Office, Morrell Targets, Greater Alexandria Economic Development Association, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation and Cenla Bowbenders.</div>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">On Thursday, Oct. 1, the <a href="http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/" target="_blank">Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries</a> recognized Louisiana student archers who participated in the 2015 National Archers in the School Program (<a href="http://naspschools.org/" target="_blank">NASP</a>) World Archery Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. in July.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">This year&#8217;s NASP World Tournament proved to be the largest ever held with nearly 5,000 student archers competing from five countries including the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, South Africa, and Namibia. Of those 5,000 students, 64 came from Louisiana and proudly represented not only their school but the entire state of Louisiana.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Benton Middle School, of Benton, La., were crowned as World Champions in the Middle School Division. Benton Middle School also finished 3rd in the 2015 NASP National Tournament held in May in Kentucky. Benton Elementary, who placed 4th at nationals this year and were last year&#8217;s World Champions, brought home their second World Championship becoming Louisiana&#8217;s first ever back-to-back World Champions.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Along with the world titles achieved by these teams, three individuals from Louisiana brought home World Championship titles as well.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 60px;">&#8211; Anna Robins of Benton Middle School finished 4th in the World in the middle school girls division.<br />
&#8211; Nathan Delill of Buckeye High School finished 3rd in the World in the middle school boys division.<br />
&#8211; Emma Bunch of Benton Elementary became Louisiana&#8217;s first-ever individual World Champion Archer placing 1st in the elementary school girls division.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">In addition to being recognized at the LDWF commission meeting, these students received team and individual awards from the department recognizing their achievements.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The Archery in Louisiana Schools Program is a member of the National Archery in the Schools Program, which teaches international target archery to students in grades 4-12. All students who attend school where the ALAS/NASP curriculum is taught become eligible to compete in State, National and World tournaments.
