The 2018 TRIAX is highly maneuverable, deadly accurate and the quietest, most vibration-free bow Mathews has ever built.

The TRIAX operates off a 28″ ATA platform with a 6″ brace height, and is powered by the award-winning, highly-efficient and extremely accurate Crosscentric Cam system producing speeds up to 343 fps.

“The high-efficiencies of this cam system allow us to design a draw force curve that stacks weight in specific areas to produce an incredibly smooth draw that stores maximum energy,” says Matt McPherson, CEO and Chief Engineer. “While Crosscentric Cam technology achieves some of the highest efficiencies we’ve ever seen, no mechanical system is 100% efficient, and that’s where our new damping technology comes into play.”

The TRIAX features new 3D Damping Technology that works to control the three perceived axes of vibration stemming from the point of contact – your grip. The design and location of the new Enhanced Harmonic Stabilizer (EHS) diminishes all three paths of that residual vibration, drastically reducing post-shot noise and virtually eliminating felt recoil. This new location also transfers weight in front of and below the grip for a lower center of gravity, resulting in increased stability and easier aiming.

“We’ve found that some of our most demanding, hard-core hunters prefer a bow that is compact, easy to maneuver, extremely quiet and has crushing downrange energy,” stated Brad Treu, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Our goal from the beginning of the design phase was to develop the most vibration-free bow we’ve ever offered, and with the new 3D Damping technology, the TRIAX is without question, just that. Shoot it next to any bow on the market and you’ll feel the difference. There really is no comparison.”

Mathews’ Avail is a compact, lightweight bow engineered for female archers and bowhunters. The Avail tested here was set for a 25-inch draw length and slightly more than a 50-pound draw weight. This draw weight / length is efficient for tagging animals such as black bears, whitetail deer, springtime gobblers, and more. These bow specs generate respectable kinetic energy, touching 50 foot-pounds across the board.

The heart of the Avail is Mathews’ CrossCentric Cam system with Advanced Vectoring System (AVS) technology. This cam was inspired by Mathews’ No Cam technology, which maintains the smooth nature of that Gen-1 technology while increasing speeds to boost KE transfer without sacrificing the bow’s smooth character. During the draw cycles, limb tips move little between rest and anchor positions which transfers energy more efficiently for quieter shots.

When pulling into anchor, partially concentric string payout produces a smooth, bump-free draw cycle. The AVS technology vectors the draw forces to maintain perfect synchronization while working with a True Center Nocking Point for straight and level nock-point travel. The Cams on the Avail increase leverage during the draw cycle, making any draw weight seem lighter than what the scale reads. Also, CrossCentric Cams kick out at full draw to open the bowstring angle and help this 30-inch bow feel 2 to 3 inches longer, increasing forgiveness and better peep placement. Meanwhile, the CrossCentric dual string-stop system creates a solid rear wall and consistent arrow speeds.

The Avail includes a Dual Bridge Riser that provides an extra-stiff, stable shooting platform while minimizing mass. This bow’s riser has a bit of reflex, setting the Flatback Grip slightly behind the limbs’ pivot points, but the bow remains stable and well-balanced because of its long-riser and short-limb configuration. The Avail’s pivoting one-piece-milled limb pockets are set on a wide base to shift balance rearward while anchoring the bow’s slim-profile split limbs. In addition, integrated mounting slots milled into the riser accommodate Mathews’ quivers and the lower riser holds two steel stabilizer mounts.

The Avail features an array of silencing technologies including an integral Harmonic Damper above and Harmonic Stabilizer Lite below, which are set in rubber webs beneath each limb pocket. Mathews’ Avail also includes a carbon-rod-mounted rubber-bumper string stop, and proven Reverse Roller Guard system mounted on a carbon rod. On release, the Avail creates merely a dull thump.

The Avail’s compact 30-inch axle-to-axle specs make it ideal for treestand vigils or a cramped popup blind. Its sub-4-pound mass also makes it a great companion when logging long miles in rough-and-tumble terrain. With little tuning and sighting, this bow easily shot fist-sized groups at 20 and 30 yards.

But that isn’t all.

They offer shooters multiple indoor and outdoor options. Their indoor range features both a 3D and paper target range. The indoor 3D is a 30 target/arrow range and the paper range has target bales to sight in from 10 to 35 yards. The outdoor 3D range is 30 targets on 10 wooded acres with 3 elevated shooting platforms and many different shooting situations to simulate hunting. It’s open 365 days a year with shooting positions for compound and traditional equipment as well as for men, women, youth, & children. Leagues include outdoor 3D, indoor 3D and indoor paper spot targets.

Big-name archery gear can be found there including Mathews Archery, Hoyt, Bowtech, Diamond, and Mission bows along with Easton, T.R.U. Ball, TRUGLO, SKB and so many more.

New Breed Archery has been working to create the ultimate target bow for eight years. The result is the Cyborg 2. This bow combines the proven features of the Cyborg and the innovative features of the Elevation. New Breed gave the Cyborg 2 a considerable 37-inch axle-to-axle length, with a super-smooth draw cycle and a forgiving 7¾-inch brace height for nail-driving accuracy. Strategically placed limb and cable stops deliver a rock solid back wall and aid in tuning of the bow. The torqueless-free grip with Bowjax dampening inserts is set in-line so the limb pivots off the riser, giving it the extra increase in accuracy needed for serious tournament competition.

The Cyborg 2 features a unique hybrid riser that allows for no hand shock and features a new gusset brace fluted riser design made with the highest grade aircraft aluminum. The short limb configuration and all new Bionix Two Track 2.5 dual cam-to-cam modular system round out the package for unbelievable stability and accuracy.

Shooters also will like the secondary rear stabilizer insert which allows for easy installation of back weights, offset bars or a full set of rear-mounted V-Bars. There’s no doubt this bow is built to meet your individual bow balancing needs. And, like all New Breed bows, the Cyborg 2 is made in the United States and hand assembled by one person from start to finish, using only the highest quality parts available. No mass-produced assembly lines means a better quality finished product.

From the new hybrid cable slide system to all titanium and stainless steel hardware, prepare to rise to the top of your game with the New Breed Cyborg 2!

Waves weren’t the only thing hitting Myrtle Beach, South Carolina shores this past week as students, parents, and coaches from all over the United States and Canada, flocked like seagulls to the 2016 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) World Tournament. The tournament took place at the Myrtle Beach Sports Center, where more than four thousand student archers participated at this year’s archery competition. Jessica Vanco, Assistant General Manager of the Sports Center offered, “The NASP 2016 World Tournament was the largest event to date at the Sports Center since our opening in March 2015. The mental energy, focus, and discipline of these young archers was very impressive and inspiring to watch. From the spectators to the coaches, their sportsmanship was commendable.”

The tournament began on June 23 and went through June 26. There were twenty-six flights and one hundred seventy-two students per flight. Of course, as usual, teams were made up of twelve to twenty-four students, with a minimum of four males or four females on each team. Participation totals this year were 4,135 for the bulls-eye and 1,120 in the 3D tournament. Forty-nine percent of the shooters were female and fifty-one percent were males, making this year’s female to male ratio the most balanced in NASP®’s 15-year history.

Archers and teams hailed from a wide range of states. In the Elementary Division, the top male shooter was Gavin Keirns, from Crooksville, Ohio. He attends Crooksville Elementary and scored 289. The top elementary female was Savannah Philpot, from London, KY. She attends Bush Elementary School, and her score was a whopping 295. Savannah established a new NASP® World Record for Elementary Female with this outstanding performance.

In the Middle School (M.S.) Division, the top male scorer was Chase Herndon with a 296. Chase is from Chauncey, West Virginia. He attends Beth Haven Christian School. The top female in this category was Ashlie Garrison with a score of 293. Ashlie attends Newburgh, Indiana’s Castle North Middle School.

In the High School (H.S.) division, the top males were Dalton Talbert and Caleb Stillians who tied with a score of 299 (29 tens). After the 5-arrow tiebreaker, Dalton Talbert took the top honors. Dalton is from Zanesville, Ohio, and he attends Maysville H.S. The top female in the H.S. division was Morgan Daily, with a score of 294. Morgan is from Evansville, Indiana, and attends Reitz Memorial High.

Finally, the overall championship shooters for female and male divisions were earned by Dalton Talbert and Savannah Philpot. Savannah has made NASP® history by being the first 5th grade student to achieve overall female archer for the entire 4-12th grade competition. Congratulations, Savannah!

The world tournament awards ceremony, sponsored by Academy Sports+ Outdoors, was kicked off by Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes who announced, “We host a great number of sporting events, and without any question, the attendees at this archery tournament were some of the most respectful athletes our community has ever experienced… We will welcome NASP® back with open arms!” Everyone appreciated that this tournament was brought to Myrtle Beach due to strong support by the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
