Elite’s Reo Wilde Claims 2016 Arizona Cup

Sanctioned by the Lausanne, Switzerland based World Archery Federation the 2016 Arizona Cup is the only event of its type in the United States. The April 9-10, 2016 event attracted top archers from across the globe in a test of tenacity and focus in what would prove to be less than ideal conditions for the 50-meter outdoor shooting event.

After two successful matches Saturday Reo advanced to face Jesse Broadwater in Sunday’s quarter-final shoot out where he prevailed 146-142 over the competition’s #1 seed. The semi finals found Wilde against Paul Tedford in inconsistent and challenging weather conditions – ranging from heavy rain and lightning to bright sun further testing Wilde and Tedford’s equipment and focus. Taking aim behind his brand new Victory 37 Reo came out on top with a score of 142 to 140, while the Netherlands Mike Schloesser knocked out Braden Gellenthien to face Reo in the Final Shoot Off.

“I only received my Victory 37 a few weeks ago and I can hardly believe how easily it tuned up and how shootable it was,” said Reo. “It has aimed better than any bow I have ever had in my hand. I was very excited to see what it could do against some of the best target shooters in the world, and it lived up to the high expectations I had for it. My Elite Victory 37 did all I could ask of a bow and then some more. The 37 kept putting arrows in against every competitor and even the elements. I couldn’t be happier with my new bow and am so excited to see what else I can do with it this year.”

In a tenacious and intense final round, Wilde trailed Schloesser 85-87, but came back to tie after the fifth end with an even score. As a final closest-to-center tiebreaker, Wilde and Schloesser each shot a single arrow with Reo’s landing him closest to the center to secure him champion of the 2016 Arizona Cup.

“Seeing Reo win with the new Victory 37 so quickly after picking it up is really impressive. Elite shooters are simply killing it out there right now in both the 3D and target, with this bow!” said Eric Griggs, Elite Archery’s President.
