Louisville, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Chris Jones as the new S3DA South Carolina State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Chris will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in South Carolina, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Chris will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual regions.
“Chris is the kind of person every organization seeks to have onboard,” says Michael Lundeen, National Director for S3DA. “His passion for archery and his work ethic are going to be a huge asset for S3DA and we consider ourselves to lucky to have found him.”
Born in the Blue Ridge mountains of western North Carolina, Chris started hunting deer at the age of 12. He had my first bow at 15 and chasing whitetail with archery equipment grew into a passion that has brought him into his 35th year anxiously waiting for opening day. Chris owns a photography business as well as being a cameraman for Full Draw Adventures.
“Mentoring and encouraging kids any way I can, is something I have come to enjoy. Scholastic 3-D Archery has offered me the opportunity to share with kids my life long passion for archery. The opportunity for these kids to create new relationships, strengthen the ones they already have and get outdoors is a winner in my book. Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
