A week before her third birthday, Dolly Shivani Cherukuri broke a national archery record in her home country of India, becoming the youngest Indian to score over 200 points in an archery trial event. Her record and final score of 388 points drew international headlines in 2015.
Dolly was born into the sport, the daughter of an archery academy owner. Seven years ago, Dolly’s older brother, an archery champion and coach, was killed in a road accident. Her parents believe her to be the reincarnation of her dead brother.
Documentary filmmaker Jamie Dobie gives the world a peek into Dolly’s life at the archery academy as she trains to become an Olympic archery champion. The world premier of the documentary short film “Shivani” happens today at the 20th Annual Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, NC.
