Baltimore Bowmen continues to keep traditional archery alive through its annual Traditional Classic, an event that attracts archers from across the country for a weekend focused on instinctive shooting, outdoor courses, and archery fellowship.
Hosted at the club’s scenic grounds in Maryland, the Traditional Classic features wooded 3D courses designed specifically for longbows and recurves. Shooters navigate trails filled with realistic targets and varying shot angles that challenge both experienced archers and newcomers to traditional equipment.
This year’s event is May 14-18th and will include attendance from BigShot Targets, giving archers an opportunity to check out target options and connect with another recognized name in the archery industry. Vendor participation continues to be an important part of the event, helping attendees discover new gear and products while supporting the traditional archery community.
In addition to the shooting courses, the Traditional Classic has built a reputation for its welcoming atmosphere. Archers, bowyers, collectors, and outdoor enthusiasts gather throughout the weekend to share equipment, stories, and shooting techniques. Camping and social activities add to the overall experience and help create a strong sense of community among attendees.
Traditional archery continues seeing renewed interest among bowhunters and recreational shooters who appreciate the simplicity and craftsmanship associated with longbows and recurves. Events like the Traditional Classic give archers an opportunity to connect with others who share that passion while testing their skills in a realistic outdoor setting.
Over the years, Baltimore Bowmen has earned a respected reputation within the archery community for preserving traditional shooting styles and promoting family-friendly events. The Traditional Classic remains one of the organization’s signature gatherings and continues drawing archers looking for both competition and camaraderie.
